GetResponse Review
by Mark Shroyer
After researching dozens of different autoresponder services,
I have come to consider GetResponse
as one of the best, most well-rounded autoresponder services
on my entire research list.
When you join GetResponse you'll discover a very robust
email marketing system that gives you nearly everything
you need to be successful with email marketing.
In fact, the first time I became a GetResponse customer
was over ten years ago. Then I switched and tried other
autoresponder services. Long story short, I came back to
GetResponse for the reason's you're about to discover in
this review.
How Will GetResponse Help You?
First of all, they provide turnkey newsletter publishing
and hosting features, as well as unlimited follow-up autoresponders
to deliver information to your subscribers. That way you
can continuously create name brand awareness and convert
prospects to customers.
When you first visit the GetResponse home page you will
notice it says the "Worlds Easiest Email Marketing".
For the most part I agree with that. But honestly, GetResponse
offers so much that you need time to digest it all, and
newbies may find some of it a bit overwhelming at first.
In other words, if you have very little to no experience
with autoresponders then you will need to be patient as
there is a slight learning curve, depending on how fancy
you want to get.
So if you want to use this system to its fullest potential,
don't expect to have everything up and running in five minutes
right after signing up. I would venture to say you'll need
to invest at least a couple hours exploring GetResponse
and getting familiar with the layout and what each tool
does.
However, once you crash course your way through it and
familiarize yourself with everything and how it works, things
suddenly do start to become quicker and easier.
GetResponse Offers Many Features & Benefits
GetResponse offers so many features that I decided instead
of me describing each one in detail (and making this review
super long) that, instead, I would just simply share what
my favorite features are and aren't.
(In other words, to see all the features it would probably
be better just to visit the GetResponse
web site.)
Of course, GetResponse offers nearly everything that their
competitors do, such as creating forms, sending newsletters,
follow up via email through autoresponders, and tracking
your email, etc.
But with GetResponse you'll be able to start building permission-based
email lists, using a/b testing to discover the copy that
gets the best results, email automation via triggers, tracking
your various email results, plus you can integrate it with
RSS/social media, etc., etc.
Plus with GetResponse you get really nice templates and
you can send video and use RSS and social media sites and
more!
With GetResponse it's Drop & Drag
Another thing I really like about GetResponse is that once
you get use to the layout and where everything is located,
some of it is literally drop and drag quick and easy.
For example, if you have an autoresponder series and you
want to place each email in a different order, simply drag
each email into the order you desire and get it done within
seconds!
Send Emails at Your subscriber's Local Time
Another feature I REALLY like about GetResponse is that
you can set each email up to be delivered at the local time
of each subscriber.
In other words, if a suscriber lives on the other side
of the world and you want that person to receive your email
at 8am THEIR TIME, with GetResponse you can do that. In
fact, you can do that for your entire list.
Then There is the Automation Feature...
For those who want to get really fancy, you can set up
your autoresponders to react according to how your subscriber
reacts.
There are 6 different autoresponder types:
Time based is commonly used for all autoresponder systems.
You know, on day #1 automatically send out message #1. On
day #3 automatically send out message #2, etc.
However, these other five types of autoresponders are not
so common to find with the competition. Yet they are the
most powerful in regards to automation, saving time, and
getting unbelievable results!
Here is Where GetResponse Stands Apart from Their Competition...
OKAY. Lets say you emailed your master email list and let
them know about a product launch you planned to do in the
near future.
What if there was a way to find out who all on your master
email list was interested in your product launch by merely
clicking a link?
Well, by choosing a click based autoresponder, you can
automatically have GetResponse send out a follow up email
in the future to ONLY the people who clicked a special link
in the original email.
With click based autoresponders you would know EXACTLY
who to email your product launch to because you had specific
subscribers "raise their hands" to let you know
they were interested.
The biggest benefit is that they are more likely to respond
to your offer! And the other big benefit is that you won't
turn off the rest of your email list who didn't respond
by sending them stuff they weren't interested in. Pretty
clever, aye?
Of Course, No service is Perfect. Here Are a Couple
of Flaws I Noticed.
To be brutally honest, I'm not crazy about how the "create
forms" work. They can be a little challenging to figure
out and manipulate. It seems a little "clunky"
to me. But once you get the hang of it, then it's not so
bad.
You can also check to see how your emails look on various
mobile phones. Sometimes it takes too long for them to load.
Those are really the only two things I can think of that
could be done a little better.
Now here is the most important part...
Your Emails Will Get Delivered
Thanks to aggressive spam filters the ugly truth is that
a lot of emails sent today from email providers NEVER make
it into your recipients' INBOX.
But...
Through responsible and fully automated list hygiene, anti-spam
practices and through establishing relationships with major
Internet Service Providers and Email Service Providers,
my understanding is that GetResponse has established good
relations with all the major ISPs and Email Service Providers
to ensure undisrupted email deliverability for their customers.
In other words, with GetResponse 99% of the emails you
send should make it through to your recipients INBOX so
you can get the highest possible email deliverability. (VERY
IMPORTANT!)
GetResponse Allows Single Opt-in
Something else GetResponse allows you to do (that most
of their competitors don't), is that they'll allow you to
use single opt-in. All you have to do is ask them for permission
and follow their rules. That way nobody gets accused of
spam.
Build Your Email List Offline & Add Contact Info
Manually
One of the biggest benefits with GetResponse is that they'll
allow you to manually add subscribers from your offline
promotions, such as signup sheets, postcard contests, and
putting business cards in the fish bowl. This is excellent
news for brick and mortor businesses, or anyone else who
uses offline methods to build their email list.
Get Free Training & Great Customer Support
Because GetResponse seriously wants their clients to succeed,
not only will they show you how to use their system to its
fullest potential (via video), but they offer a free (very
in depth!) video course series on how to market your website,
generate leads and turn them into customers.
And if you ever get stuck or experience a glitch you can
contact their technical support anytime.
Oh Ya, I Almost Forgot...
GetResponse will give anyone who runs a non-profit organization
a 50% discount off their monthly and yearly price forever!
